Ten years ago, our founders, a group of veterans, embarked on a mission to create a sustainable economy in Afghanistan through its rich agricultural heritage. This journey has not only introduced exceptional Afghan saffron to culinary enthusiasts worldwide but also set a new standard for quality and ethical sourcing in the spice industry.
From our transformative appearance on Shark Tank seven years ago to becoming the largest private employer of women in Afghanistan, Rumi Spice has achieved remarkable milestones.
We have supported over 10,000 sustainable Afghan livelihoods, introduced an array of whole spices and unique blends to Whole Foods nationwide, and generated over $3 million in direct economic impact in Afghanistan.
Our commitment to quality and sustainability remains unwavering, as we continue to share the rich flavors of Afghanistan with the world.
As we reflect on the past and look to the future, our vision expands. We are setting ambitious goals to support 1 million sustainable Afghan livelihoods by our 20th anniversary, with new initiatives and product expansions underway. These efforts promise to deepen our impact and bring more of Afghanistan's vibrant culture and flavors to your doorstep.
Celebrating with a Special Birthday Cake
In celebration of our 10th anniversary, we commissioned a special birthday cake from Nazli & Co., a boutique bakery known for its small-batch, bespoke cakes featuring flavors from the Asian diaspora. The cake, a delicious blend of Rumi spices and craftsmanship, is as unique and impactful as our mission.
